Arva Hurd was born and raised in Perry, Iowa. After meeting Joe Ruggle at the Perry creamery, they married and raised a family of 10 children: Eight boys (Don, Jim, Dave, Paul, Dan, Jerry, Mike and Kevin)and two girls (Marg and Ann). An excellent quilter and gardener, Arva has a strong faith in God and is a loyal member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Perry. Her faith was recently tested when Arva and her family learned she if battling terminal cancer. All who know Arva always have a smile, for she has brightened the lives of so many, over the years!!!
